Hello, I’m Matt and welcome to my website! Located in northern Utah, I am a photo and video hybrid shooter.

My Photography

My style, or brand if you will, is producing long exposure photography combined with light painting. I know other photographers love “Chasing the light” but I prefer to do things differently! My method is to start with a very dark (if not black) clean slate to begin with. I then slow the shutter speed way down so that my exposure is sometimes multiple minutes long. With a long exposure I am able to then bring in my own lights and “paint in” my subjects the way that I want them to be shown. This is a journey I’ve been on for at least 12 years and it’s been a journey of many mistakes made and many lessons learned. After all these years I still don’t believe that I have mastered this type of photography, but the frequency of “happy accidents” are happening more and more often! The other half of my photography includes Landscape photography and Travel. I am a person that loves travelling and seeing all of the great landscapes we have been blessed with on this planet. I have a goal to visit as many National Parks as I can and to be able to travel over seas. Also, I sort of have “a thing” with mountains in particular! If you know me, you know I always want to be in the mountains!

My Videography

I’ve been working with video for over ten years now. I have filmed many different types of videos including talking head interviews as well as events. Some of the events I have filmed have been MMA fights and promos, beauty pageants and ballets, music videos as well as some product videos. Currently I am specializing in wedding highlight films and I am just now starting a new brand name (Alpenglow Forever Films) that is focused exclusively on wedding highlight films and elopement videos. I have built up all the necessary equipment that includes all of the lighting and audio recorders to be able to film in just about any environment, with or without plugging into a wall or generator. As an added bonus, these lights definitely help out with my light painting photography!
